Theatre Technician

Theatre technicians operate the behind the scenes systems used in theatres and often at other types of live performance. A broad range of work is carried out and normally people have their normally people have their own specialisms.

You might prefer to work with sound equipment, lighting design and operation, special effects or general operations and maintenance. Each area of work has it's own specialist skills that could include carpentry and electrical expertise.

Work can be found outside of theatres within live music venues, festivals, seminars and conferences and also one off special events. Technicians are often employed by venues and touring companies or work self-employed.
