Systems Engineer

“If you are keen on computing and enjoy design and development, this job could be ideal for you.”

Systems are in place everywhere and help us to lead our lives and make towns and cities run properly.

They can include telephone systems, electrical power systems, sewage systems and traffic systems.

The engineer in charge will put to use IT and maths skills and have specialist knowledge of their system. Work can often take place in a control centre or out in the field working with the infrastructure around us.

Work experience is normally gained on the job as an apprentice. Achieving engineering qualifications before applying for these jobs can help boost your chances.

People skills when dealing with customers or service users and an eye for detail will help you to move forward in this career.
