Sports development officers organise sports based projects and training to encourage people to take part in sport and to have a healthier lifestyle. Their aim is to make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy sport.
As a sports development officer you could be involved in working with local communities to identify the need and demand for new activities. Officers also work to improve access to sport for young people, people with disabilities and people from disadvantaged communities. Often you could be tasked with developing a specific sport in a school, or for a county or national governing body (NGB)
