Song Writer

Song Writer

“If you can write songs, and have a good understanding of pop culture, this could be ideal job for you.”

Song Writer

A song writer is someone who creates new music that other artists can perform. Working freelance or employed by a music label, the work can be based around television adverts, film, computer games or pop songs.

Starting off freelance, song writers normally pitch their songs to music companies or licensing companies with a view to selling individual songs. If the tracks are successful there is the chance that a record label may decide to employ the song writer. With the backing of a record label and a few successful tracks, interest and demand will likely grow.

Initially working long hours for little immediate financial reward, song writers must remain focused, determined and meet the needs of the industry. Strong communication and business skills are necessary when trying to push for sales and opportunities.
