“If you enjoy working with people in creative fast paced setting, this may be the job for you.”

Salon Owner

Salon owners are often fully qualified, experience hair stylists who are looking for a new challenge. Leading a team, managing finances and dealing with clients and product companies all form part of the salon owner's role.

As a salon owner you will be expected to create a unique identity for the salon and build a distinctive brand around it whilst running a business. You may choose to offer clients additional services such as beauty treatments and nail services.

To become a hairdresser, you will need to have customer service and 'people' skills. You'll need creativity and an awareness of fashion. You'll also need a willingness to learn new techniques and methods.

You can train as a hairdresser either full-time or part-time at a college. You could also work as a trainee, where you would learn on the job and go to college on day release.
