“If you love animals and want to make a difference in their lives, this job could be perfect for you.”

RSPCA Inspector

RSPCA inspectors work on the frontline of animal care, protecting and looking out for animal welfare and wellbeing.

Day-to-day duties often include advising animal owners, informing people of animal rights, inspecting animal establishments such as kennels and pet shops and events such as agricultural shows and race meetings. RSPCA inspectors will also be expected to check on reports of neglect and cruelty and may have to provide evidence to the police or in court.

To do this job you will need good communication skills. You will need to be able to handle animals confidently. You will also need to be able to deal with unpleasant and distressing situations.

To be an inspector you would first start as a trainee. Employers will prefer you to have experience of working with animals.
