Maintenance Engineer

“If you are practically minded and are interested in how things work, a career in engineering could be for you.”

Maintenance Engineer

Maintenance engineers are responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery. They use computerised systems to oversee routine maintenance and organise repairs.

Day-to-day responsibilities vary from designing maintenance strategies, to carrying out routine scheduled maintenance and diagnosing breakdown problems.

To become a maintenance engineer, you'll need to study a BTEC in engineering. A degree is not essential but many people have a degree in engineering. An alternative route would be to train through an engineering apprenticeship.
