GP Referral Practitioner

Exercise referral or GP referral practitioners are able to offer patients exercise advice and plans to help recovery from injury or sickness. Doctors can prescribe exercise to patients and this type of treatment is carried out by the referral practitioners. You will promote fitness and offer healthy living advice and help with the motivation and rehabilitation of patients.

Referral practitioners are often self-employed and work as personal trainers alongside their referral clients.

You will need good people skills and a caring disposition alongside knowledge of exercise and biology.

  • gym instruction and personal training qualifications
  • advanced sports knowledge
