Estates officers are responsible for the management and upkeep of land and property belonging to local councils and public bodies, such as health authorities and the police.
You'll also need good communications skills and the ability to work with people at all levels.
The job of an estates officer is to organise repairs and maintenance, arrange contacts and meeting building controls and environmental issues and negotiate tenders with external companies. You may also be responsible for a maintenance team.
Most estates officers have qualifications and experience in relevant areas, for example surveying, building services engineering or construction management. Excellent computer skills will also be needed.
