Engineers look to create new and exciting systems, products and technologies that help us to move forward and innovate in all areas of work and life.

Combing practical skills with maths and the latest IT technologies, engineers lead the way in creating new products and concepts often from initial design through to completion. Engineers work with machinery, tools and often new materials.

In this job you will need to be able to find solutions to complex problems. You will have to be able to explain ideas clearly to non-experts. You will also need to be able to make big decisions.

To get into this job you would normally need to complete a foundation degree, BTEC HNC, HND or degree in electrical or electronic engineering, engineering technology, or a related subject like building services engineering. Apprenticeship opportunities are also open to all.
