Electrical engineers design, build and maintain electrical control systems, machinery and equipment.

As an electrical engineer, you would work with high and low voltage equipment in a number of areas including transport, power generation, renewable energy and building services.
Exact day-to-day duties would depend on the industry, but include carrying out feasibility studies, drawing up project plans, estimating costs, coordinating projects and testing installations and systems.
To become an electrical engineer, you would normally need to complete a foundation degree, HNC, HND or degree in electrical or electronic engineering or related subject, for example building services engineering.
