Apprentices are employed full time and work towards nationally recognised qualifications whilst learning at work and in college. Studying at college is normally on a day release basis.
You need a full time job to be an apprentice. This means at least 30 hours per week including your college time. If you do not have a job yet, the college can help you to find one but you may need to do some job-hunting yourself and will need a CV and attend interviews with employers. The college will help you with this too. If you have a job already, your employer may be willing to consider letting you train for an apprenticeship as it is a recognised route to good national qualifications.
Apprenticeships no longer focus just on the more traditional jobs such as plumbing, or the catering industry. South Devon College also covers sectors such as technical theatre, sports and outdoor pursuits.
